Pre-Shoot Prep

You’ll receive our exclusive prep guide that introduces you to our all-female team, gives you information about our process, and includes plenty of tips to help you prepare for your big day. You’ll also receive our product guide, which shows you our signature packages, prices, and products. You’ll also receive reminders and tips leading up to your photoshoot so you don’t forget anything on your big day!

Styling Consultation

We want to ensure everything is as stress-free as possible, so my team and I will work with you to create a plan before your photoshoot. This includes discussing the looks we will create and your photoshoot wardrobe. You’re welcome to come to the studio before your session to peruse all your wardrobe options and try them on to ensure they match your aesthetic. If you prefer, we can also meet via Zoom and accomplish everything from the comfort of your home.

Most clients are in the studio from 11 am or noon until 2 or 3 pm. This way, you can arrive and leave without worrying about rush-hour traffic.

After your luxury session, you can view and order your favorite images and products from anywhere. I’ll help you decide which package and custom products are right for you.

When will I receive my products?

You’ll receive your final products 4 to 6 weeks after you place your order. Please let me know if you need photos by a specific date so I can make sure you have everything in time. The Christmas deadline for books is October 1, and Valentine’s Day is December 1.

My professional labs receive many orders during these periods, so I want to ensure you receive everything you need to celebrate your special occasion on time.

The women featured on my site are NOT models - they’re everyday women, just like you! Have you ever seen a “before” picture of a top model? Often, their photos don’t look anything like the mythical creatures seen in magazines. Hair, makeup, and retouching are typically used to create that polished, editorial look.

You’ll receive the same care and attention as these top models right from the moment you schedule your appointment. I promise we’ll bring out your inner model! You’re investing in one of the top boudoir photographers in the country to pose and guide you through your experience. You’re guaranteed to look your best!

The idea isn’t to go into your session with someone else’s standard of beauty as your expectation - but to love your perfect imperfections that make you uniquely beautiful. This photoshoot is meant to memorialize your beauty at ANY point in your life… In fact, many of my clients come back again and again, and we love to see them and celebrate their growth!

Having an experienced boudoir photographer means you don’t have to worry about posing; We’re trained in the art of flattering posing, and we provide thorough, guided direction so you can look and feel your best. The result? You’ll look authentic and naturally gorgeous in every photo. This is an intimate portrait session, and it’s our job to make you comfortable so you feel great in your own skin. It’s YOUR version of sexy, not anyone else’s. And, when the job is done right, you’ll gain newfound confidence in yourself and realize that you truly are sexy!

There are no rules that say a boudoir session is all about lingerie. It’s about creating your own personal, intimate definition of beauty in any way you like. That can be in a sweater, in a negligee, or even in a ball gown. It’s about intimacy with your sense of self - NOT your wardrobe. Upon booking, you’ll receive Artful Curves’ signature Boudoir Preparation Guide. This contains all kinds of inspired looks - from lingerie and beyond - so you can find your signature style for the session. Plus, you might realize in the process that you enjoy the sultrier side of things. This experience is all about redefining what’s beautiful.

ABSOLUTELY! We capture beautiful, fine art nudes with some of our clients, while other clients prefer to be covered and to use the art of suggestion. You can wear as much or as little as you want.

All of your images will be tastefully hand-edited so you can look gorgeously and authentically like yourself in every picture. The detail dedicated to every image is what allows us to get crisp and polished results. While we want you to look your very best, we still want you to recognize yourself. Our standard editing includes skin retouching, eye and teeth whitening, clothing smoothing, backdrop smoothing, color toning, etc. 

Since all of our retouchings are done by hand, we can accommodate special requests for a lighter or heavier edit. We can also emphasize or minimize anything you’d like. Please let us know if you want a heavy edit, because we won’t make those types of changes without you asking for them.

You might be nervous when your session first begins, but you’ll be surprised how quick and easy it is to feel relaxed. My team and I aim to create a comfortable environment, and within no time, your fears will melt away, and you’ll get into the groove - making space for your sensual inner goddess to shine.

Your time with our hair and makeup artist is part of the overall boudoir experience. It’s an opportunity to feel pampered and relaxed before stepping in front of the camera. Our hand-selected team knows our lighting and specific needs for your perfect session. 

We make exceptions on a case-by-case basis. However, we strongly advocate for you to work with our experts to guarantee our signature results.

I understand wanting a friend in the studio, but we don’t allow guests in the studio for a few reasons. It interferes with the day designed just for YOU and disrupts the photographic process, which can only be successful if you create a connection with your photographer. 

And don’t worry, you and Roslyn will have chatted on the phone and met for your styling consult prior to your photoshoot, so you’ll already have a friend in the room with you!

We all deserve to invest in the things we value. An Artful Curves boudoir experience isn’t just about beautiful photos. We work hard to do so much more than that. As women, we are natural nurturers, and we tend to put everyone else’s needs above our own. But you can’t pour from an empty cup, and you NEED to occasionally spoil yourself, too! That’s why I offer pre-session payment plans and financing to make a boudoir portrait experience manageable for most budgets. This is an experience you’ll cherish for the rest of your life, and we want you to be able to look back at your photos and enjoy the memories and experiences for years to come.

If you’re shopping around for the perfect boudoir experience, please remember that boudoir is not a commodity that can be bought off a shelf, and no experience is “one-size-fits-all.” We want you to feel connected to Roslyn’s art and philosophy first and foremost. We believe that the unparalleled experience offered by our studio can’t be compared or replicated by any other and that a woman’s most private and vulnerable moments should never feel like a “bargain.” 

We want you to FEEL priceless. In photography, as with many luxuries, the truth is that you’ll get what you pay for. A boudoir session should be a life-changing experience, which typically includes an investment. The best, most reputable, and most skilled photographers are not “bargains” and aren’t available for a discount. We are not the least expensive option, but we create a one-of-a-kind experience that includes the most beautiful images you’ve ever seen of yourself.

We are often booked up and have a 3-month waitlist, so make sure to plan ahead. We occasionally have unexpected openings each month and may be able to accommodate urgent requests as they arrive. 

In terms of deliverables, you should allow for up to 6-8 weeks from the day of your session to allow for your Reveal and Ordering Appointment, Professional Retouching, Album Design, and for your Folio/Album/Wall Art to be crafted.

Absolutely not! In fact, most of our clients choose to memorialize this experience with wall art. You deserve to be celebrated!

These images are a symbol of your powerful, feminine self. They serve as a daily reminder of the joy you felt during your experience, and that strength carries through to your everyday life. Not only that, but with every photoshoot, we capture “anonymous images,” meaning they don’t show your face, so the only people who will know it’s you are the people you choose to tell.

For every image you purchase, you’ll also receive the associated high-res digital. Because I’m such a believer that we should have printed images of ourselves to see and celebrate every day, consider the print work my gift to you. When you’re in your yoga pants, a ponytail, and no makeup, you’ll love the visual reminder that you’re also the gorgeous, confident woman in that image.

Client privacy is the number one priority for any reputable boudoir photographer. We go to great lengths to ensure your images are protected. Your privacy and comfort come first! We appreciate and reward clients that choose to showcase their images and inspire others, however, we honor and respect all clients’ choices around sharing images. We will NEVER share your images without your explicit, written permission.

Lots of our clients travel to work with us, and Ellicott City, MD is an incredibly charming destination for a self-love trip. If you want to travel to us, we can help you plan where to stay and give recommendations on what to do while you’re here! 

We prefer when people are willing to travel to us because we love shooting in our studio and we can guarantee the ultimate self-love experience when you come to the Artful Curves studio. 

But if you don’t want to travel to us - we sometimes travel, too!
